Active Isolation Stretching is a manual technique that isolates the muscles that are to be stretched by contracting the opposing muscles. The certified therapist utilizes a gradual stretch of no more than 2.0 seconds, promoting full range of motion and flexibility. Using a 2.0 second stretch has proven to be the key in avoiding reflexive contraction of the antagonistic muscle. Without activating antagonistic muscle group contraction, full range of motion and flexibility can be successfully restored.
